CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville tennis keeps adding to its 2015 awards and achievements. Freshman Vladyslav Ladygin and senior Anna Tumanyan both were named NAIA All-American, officials announced on Tuesday.
"It is an honor for our players to receive awards of this magnitude," said coach Kyle Caven. "We are fortunate to have several All-Americans in our history here and I know these players are excited to carry on that tradition."
Ladygin was named Second Team All-American after being selected to the Mid-South Conference first team and was also named MSC Freshman of the Year. He finished the season going 16-5 in singles.
Ladygin was ranked No. 27 in the April edition of the ITA rankings along with teammates Alejandro Soriano (42) and Sebastian Marot (48). Ladygin and Soriano both teamed up to go 16-8 in doubles play this season, finishing ranked No. 20.
Tumanyan picked up honorable mention honors. The senior from Sochi, Russia went 14-13 in singles after being ranked No. 29 in the April rankings. She teamed up with Haley Dallas to go 12-12 in doubles, finishing ranked No. 25.
"Vlad (Vladyslav) and Anna worked very hard this semester," said Caven. "This is the reward for their diligence. We hope being able to achieve this will inspire them to continue to do more, and build themselves into even better players and more importantly, being a good person."
The Tigers finished the season ranked No. 17, just one-spot out of the NAIA National Tournament. CU went on to win the NCCAA National Championship in Mobile, Ala. for the second time in four years.
The Lady Tigers finished just outside of the NAIA rankings, receiving 19 voting points.
Honorees were selected by the NAIA All-America committee, with 16 student-athletes being named to both the first and second teams.
