KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kristin Benton has been named a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) 2014 Softball Second Team All-American, as announced recently by the NAIA All-America committee.
The junior from Flaherty, Ky. sported a .424 batting average and led the Lady Tigers with 72 runs scored, 87 hits, 19 doubles, four triples, 17 home runs, 165 total bases, 26 walks and a .496 on-base percentage.
Benton is third in the nation in total bases, fourth in home runs, fifth in runs scored, and 11th in hits and doubles.
"It's an outstanding and very deserving accomplishment for Kristin," said her coach, Shannon Wathen. "She has worked extremely hard to improve her game every year. She epitomizes what LTS is about both on and off the field and is a big reason this program and our team is so special.
Benton has also been named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NAIA All-Midwest Region First Team selection.
Paragon, Wroe honored
Sara Paragon and Taylor Wroe are NFCA NAIA All-Midwest Region Second Team selections.
