Campbellsville University captured the 2009 Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Championship on Thursday at the Frankfort Civic Center.
The Tigers win their second cheerleading championship in three seasons. Campbellsville also won the 2007 title, also held at the Frankfort Civic Center.
The Mid-South Conference is the only league in the country that gives President's Cup points for cheerleading.
University of the Cumberlands finished second in the team competition followed by Georgetown College in the five-team event.
Prior to the team competition, Georgetown's Tori Page, Molly Maggard, Hilary Richardson, Courtney Amburgey and Madison Osborne won the All-Girl Partner Stunt Competition.
Ten cheerleaders earned all-conference honors. Campbellsville's Nathan Hobbs and Bethany Gray, Cumberlands' Amy Beth Shemwell and Erin White, Georgetown's Kaitlin Johnson and Allison Hord, Lindsey Wilson College's Erin Williams and Derek Johnson and Pikeville College's Ashley West and Leah Harris
Campbellsville coach Vanessa Adkins is the Mid-South Conference Coach of the Year and Campbellsville's Gray was selected as the Cheerleading of the Year.
Campbellsville's Alicia Wren is the Champions of Character recipient. Wren earned the award -- as voted on by the conference athletics director -- for her civic and servant leadership within the campus and community.
Twenty-eight student-athletes earned academic all-conference for maintaining at least a 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and being a sophomore or higher standing.
Campbellsville's Mindy McCowan, Amy Schellenberger, Alicia Wren, Sara Tramble, Rachael Sibcy, Ashley Todd and Jessica Wilson; Cumberlands' Shemwell, White, Whitney Horn, Debra Iles, Corissa Black and Amy Roberts; Georgetown's Johnson, Ashley Perkins, Kimberly Crabtree, Brittany Davidson, Hillary Richardson, and Molly Maggard; Lindsey Wilson's Williams, Johnson, Natalie Godbey, Ashley Russell Emily Keeton and Katelin Frederick; and Pikeville's West, Harris and Corey Huston earned academic all-conference.
