Jesse Howard named Cheerleader of the Year

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Jesse Howard was named the Mid-South Conference Cheerleader of the Year and Tiger cheerleading came up 1.5 points short in repeating as conference champions tonight at the Frankfort Convention Center.

University of Pikeville won the team competition with 84.2 points and Campbellsville finished just behind the Bears with 82.7 points.

Lindsey Wilson finished in third place with 77.2 points, while Georgetown College place fourth with 74.9 points and University of the Cumberlands rounded out the team standings with 70.9 points.

Howard, a sophomore from Paris, Ky., is the first Lady Tiger to be named MSC Cheerleader of the Year since Bethany Gray won the honor in 2009.

In addition, Howard was also named to the First-Team All-MSC along with teammate Samantha Walker. Cody Ford and Jordan Sherman were named to the Second-Team.

"I am really proud of Jesse and the hard work she has put in the past two years to get where she is right now," said CU coach Vanessa Adkins. "This is a well deserved award and it could not go to a better teammate."

In the All-Girl Partner stunts – Campbellsville's Jordan Sherman, Jesse Howard, Jessica Tinsley and Samantha Walker also placed second with 44.2 points. Georgetown won the title with 45.2 points.
