Hord family to be honored with naming rights at Veterans Memorial Park Softball Complex

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Campbellsville University athletics department and Lady Tiger softball have announced the ribbon cutting ceremony for the newest name to Veterans Memorial Park.

On Wednesday, April 18, the athletics department will officially rename the softball park to Hord Family Softball Field at Veterans Memorial Park.

President Dr. Michael V. Carter, Vice President for Athletics Rusty Hollingsworth Vice President for Development Benji Kelly and Director of Athletics Jim Hardy invite all former players, community members and friends of the university to the special event.

No. 4 Campbellsville hosts rival Georgetown College that afternoon starting with a doubleheader at 2 p.m. ET. The ceremony will take place between games at approximately 3:45 p.m. ET.

The Hord Family, comprised of two generations, has been one of Campbellsville's longest supporters. Ronnie Hord played basketball at CU from 1964-1966 and was named co-captain his senior year. A 1967 graduate and 2008 CU Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, Ronnie owned and operated H&W Sport Shop – the official Adidas provider for CU athletics – for almost 50 years. His son, Shaun, has since taken over the family business in the summer of 2016. In addition, Scott Hord, owner of Hord Landscapes, has volunteered and donated multiple projects over the years. His company also installed the irrigation system at the softball complex.

Hord Family Softball Field at Veterans Memorial Park is located at 1407 Old Hodgenville Road in Campbellsville.
