Audra Hockenberger are in the middle of a race - the race to be the team's leading goal scorer for the season. Entering Saturday's game at Shawnee State University, Hockenberger held a one goal lead, setting the stage for a back-and-forth scoring showcase by the pair in the Lady Tigers' 7-1 win over Shawnee State.
Campbell struck first, scoring on a penalty kick in the ninth minute to tie Hockenberger for the team lead and giving CU a 1-0 start in the game. Hockenberger responded with a pair of goals before halftime, her 10th and 11th goals this season, strengthening the Lady Tigers lead to 3-0.
Campbell evened the team lead though in the second half with her 10th and 11th goals of the season in the 59th and 66th minutes of the game.
Bailey McDonough and
Jessica Ralph also each scored goals in the 64th and 75th minutes, respectively.
Cassie Yannelli led the Lady Tigers in assists with two, while Hockenberger, Ralph and Mandel each had one.
Campbellsville had 19 shots on goal to Shawnee's five, with the only SSU goal coming in the 69th minute by Brittney Brooks.
Brandie Hagerman recorded the win in goal for Campbellsville with four saves. Sarah Cashdollar took the loss for the Bears, allowing four goals and collecting seven saves in 59 minutes. Brooke Warner had five saves and allowed three goals for Shawnee in the final 31 minutes of the game.
Campbellsville (10-6, 5-3) will hit the road for one last time in the regular season Oct. 30 for a 12:30 p.m. game at Asbury College. The final regular season game is Nov. 2 against Bethel University at Finley Stadium in Campbellsville.
