Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- It was all Lady Tigers Wednesday night when Campbellsville University hosted the Eagles of Asbury University. Campbellsville downed Asbury with simplicity, scoring both goals in the first half as it walked away with a 2-0 home win at HIG Field in Finley Stadium.
Campbellsville more than doubled the shots taken by Asbury tonight, outshooting the Eagles 17-8. Asbury finished the game with five shots on goal, just two less than Campbellsville.
In the 15th minute the Lady Tigers took a quick run off an Asbury goal kick and turned it into an
Ashley Corum goal from about seven yards out, assisted by a cross from senior forward,
Megan Campbell.
The Tigers would find the net once again with 18:41 left in the half from the foot of sophomore forward
Jessica Ralph. Ralph found separation in the defense, made one quick move to the left and fired in a goal from just outside the box, giving Campbellsville a comfortable lead heading into the break.
Junior midfielder
Cassie Yannelli finished the game with five shots, but couldn't manage to find the net. Ralph would finish with six of her own.
Coming off the bench, freshman forward
Kaitlin Bryan almost walked away with a second half goal with 19:12 left in the half, just missing the net off a well played cross from Campbell. Bryan gave it one touch, but missed high on her only shot of the night.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Brandie Hagerman had five saves, four of which came in the second half, giving Campbellsville its first shutout of the season.
Ralph now leads all Tigers with four goals this season. Corum's goal in the win ties her with Campbell with three goals for the season.
Campbellsville (3-2) is set to take the field at Finley Stadium again Saturday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. against Covenant College.
