Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Mid-South Conference play began in similar measure as non-conference play ended for Campbellsville University women's soccer - with a shutout. The Lady Tigers blanked the Bears of Shawnee State University, 3-0, Saturday night to improve to 6-2 overall and claim a victory in their MSC opener at Finley Stadium.
"It's good to get our first conference win, but we need to play better if we want to win it all," CU head coach Thom Jones said.
Megan Campbell scored two goals to retake the team lead in scoring with her sixth and seventh goals of the season, while Jessica Ralph added an insurance goal in the second half - her sixth goal of the season.
Campbell put CU on the board in the 12th minute for her 30th career goal. It took only four minutes for her to find the net again. Ralph scored her goal in the 77th minute. Cassie Yannelli assisted all three Lady Tiger goals, giving her five assists and three goals for CU in two games this week.
The Lady Tigers placed 10 of their 17 shots on goal, while Brandie Hagerman collected her second complete-game shutout of the season with six saves. Campbellsville has now shutout its opponents in its last four games.
CU will travel to Georgetown College for a MSC game Thursday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. ET.
