Lady Tigers' 7-0 win clinches MSC three-seed

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University collected its fourth-straight lopsided shutout win Tuesday, beating St. Catharine College, 7-0, to clinch the No. 3 seed in the Mid-South Conference Tournament.

The Lady Tigers are now on a four-game win streak, having outscored its last four opponents 21-0.





"It was a good win tonight, and I'm proud of my team finishing third in the conference. We are finishing the season strong and getting good momentum for the tournament," CU head coach Thom Jones said.

St. Catharine attacked early a few shots on goal, but Devon Burnside scored from the back post in the eighth minute. She added another in the ninth off a quick double assist from Rachel Veatch to Mhairi Fyfe to Burnside. Veatch assisted both early goals.

Fyfe then added a pair of unassisted goals in the 11th and 16th minutes, and the Madison Ratchford made it 5-0 at the half with a goal in the 24th minute.

Campbellsville added two goals in the second half. Chelsea Gill bounced a goal off a defender in the 63rd minute after a corner kick by Aris Kuntz. Anne Hare rebounded her own missed shot in the 74th minute.

Amanda Howard collected seven saves for her fifth shutout win of the season. The CU defense allowed only nine shots, while the Lady Tigers took 21 on offense. Jerrica Kidd and Kelsey Givens split time in goal for St. Catharine, collecting three and two saves, respectively.

Campbellsville (9-6, 4-2 MSC) will travel to former Mid-South Conference foe University of Rio Grande on Saturday, Oct. 25 for a 2p.m. game. CU will also travel to Asbury University on Oct. 30 and University of the Cumberlands on Nov. 1 to close the regular season.

The Lady Tigers will return home for its MSC Tournament quarterfinal game on Saturday, Nov. 8. CU will also host the MSC semifinals and finals, Nov. 13-14.
