BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Lady Tiger soccer could not convert any of their fours shots and top-ranked Lindsey Wilson College ended Campbellsville's hopes of a Mid-South Conference title. The Lady Tigers fell to the Blue Raiders 2-0 at Lovers Lane Soccer Complex on Friday evening.
No. 15 Campbellsville (18-2) now awaits its NAIA Playoff berth which comes out on Monday at 12 p.m. EST. Lindsey Wilson picks up the conference's automatic bid and is seeking its second-straight NAIA National Championship.
Campbellsville's game plan going in was to take away a forward and add another midfield/defender to the mix. The plan worked but the offensive attack suffered for the lack of fire power. The Lady Tigers were only able to get four shots off and two were on goal.
Lindsey Wilson on the other hand had 20 shots and half of those were on goal.
Lyana Perez netted both goals for the Blue Raiders. The first came off an assist from Yvonna Ploeg in the 31st minute.
Campbellsville took a gamble in the final 15 minutes with Coach Thom Jones pulling a midfield/defender and adding another forward to the mix. The Lady Tigers were able to get off half of their shots in that span but could not connect. Mhairi Fyfe gave the Lady Tigers their best chance with 4:49 left on the clock but her shot missed just wide.
After the formation change, Perez put the game out of reach with her second goal in the 77th minute.
Goalkeeper Amanda Howard had a spectacular night finishing with eight saves. Lindsey Wilson's Johanna Henrikkson stopped two shots overall.
Campbellsville has now allowed only eight goals this season, surrendering half of them to Lindsey Wilson. The Lady Tigers only two losses on the season were to the top-ranked Blue Raiders.Â
