ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — The magical run came to an end tonight for Campbellsville women's soccer. The 13-seeded Lady Tigers were shutout for only the third time this season, falling to four-seeded Benedictine (Kan.) in the NAIA National Tournament, 4-0.
Campbellsville's season ends with a 19-3 record. Benedictine improves to 21-1-1 and will advance to the quarterfinals of the national tournament. The Ravens will play the winner of Biola (Calif.) and Mobile (Ala.) on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. ET at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.
Benedictine's Ashley Chandler was the difference maker, recording her third hat trick of the season. She now has 25 goals after scoring in the 24th, 39th and 54th minutes.
Hannah Trandahl continued to play add on for the Ravens delivering the fourth goal in the 67th minute.
Benedictine controlled the majority of the game, finishing with 20 shots with 12 on goal, compared to Campbellsville's eight shots and three on goal.
Campbellsville's Amanda Howard held her own in goal, finishing with eight saves. She completes her sophomore campaign with 125 saves.
Senior Aris Kuntz and junior Mhairi Fyfe both had chances in the first half, but Ellen Loughman was there to keep the Lady Tigers scoreless. Loughman finished the night with three saves.
Campbellsville's season ends after making the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in history. Senior's Aris Kuntz, Rachel Veatch, Morgan Danis and Kathryn Thomas end their career's with a four-year record of 56-27-3 – making them the winningest class in the CU program.
