Lady Tiger soccer opens home portion of schedule tonight with Rio Grande at 6 p.m.

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Lady Tiger soccer welcomes University of Rio Grande to Finley Stadium and Citizens Bank Field tonight for the 2017 home opener.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET and fans can follow the action live on the CU Sports Network.

Both the Lady Tigers and RedStorm enter tonight's matchup seeking their first win of the year after starting the season with 0-1 records. Campbellsville lost its season opener, 2-0, on the road at Trinity International on Saturday, Aug. 26.

Rio Grande fell to Indiana Wesleyan, 7-0, to open its season.

The programs are familiar with each other, as Rio Grande is a former Mid-South Conference member. The RedStorm have competed in four different conferences the past nine years - including a name change - American Mid-West (2008), Mid-South (2009-2013), KIAC (2014-2015), River States (2016-present).

Even though there is a little familiarity, both programs have not played since CU defeated Rio Grande, 5-0, on Oct. 25, 2014.

The RedStorm finished last year with a 3-13-2 record and 2-5-1 inside the River States Conference. URG also hasn't finished the year with a winning record since 2014 when it went 12-6 and a perfect 6-0 inside KIAC (Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) play.

CU returns its NAIA All-American and captain, Amanda Howard. Howard, a senior from Harrodsburg, Ky., holds the single-season saves record as a goalkeeper with 133, which was set in 2014. Howard (355) is 65 saves away from eclipsing Brandie Hagerman's career mark of 420, which was set from 2010-13.

The biggest unknown for CU this season is scoring. The Lady Tigers netted only 36 goals last season compared to 75 in 2015 - the same year CU reached the NAIA Championship for the first time in program history.

CU finished with a 11-8-2 record last season but six of those loses all came with a shutout.

After tonight's game, the Lady Tigers hit the road for a pair of games at Indiana Wesleyan (Sept. 1) and Taylor University (Sept. 2) and will not return to Finley Stadium until hosting Brescia on Sept. 7.
