LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Fourth-ranked Campbellsville men's tennis swept NCAA DII Bellarmine University late on Friday night at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex, 9-0.
The Tigers improved to 2-0 overall, while Bellarmine falls to 2-3.
The night started with a doubles sweep, as CU allowed only four points. The fifth-ranked pair of
Chrys Castro and
Alejandro Reyes defeated Sam Rueff and Matt Momper, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles.
Adrian Sabrojo and
Pablo Alonso Munoz then took down Nick Johnson and Andrew Jones, 8-1, before
Blayze O'Keefe and
Martin Munoz won 8-2 over Josehp Naville and L.J. Allara.
In singles, the Tigers out-scored Bellarmine 60-12. Reyes started the singles scoring with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Momper and O'keefe defeated Andrew Jones 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles to seal the Tiger victory.
At No. 1 singles, Castro took down Rueff with a 6-1, 6-2 win.
The final three singles matches were played in pro sets.
Martin Munoz won 8-2,
Pablo Alonso Munoz won 8-5 and
Mehdi Bichiri swept his competition with an 8-0 win.
Campbellsville will now have a week before traveling to Eastern Kentucky University for an exhibition with the Colonels on Saturday, Feb. 24.
