Men’s Tennis sweeps Centre, 9-0, for fourth-straight victory to open 2018

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville men's tennis team moved to 4-0 on the season after picking up its third 9-0 victory of the spring season on Saturday in Danville, Ky., against NCAA Division III Centre College.
 
The duo of Chrys Castro and Alejandro Reyes got the Tigers off to an early lead with an 8-4 win against Trey Akmon and Arpit Maini at No. 1 doubles. Blayze O'Keefe and Pablo Alonso Munoz won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles, followed by an 8-4 win from Alberto Perez and Alex Spalding at No. 3 doubles.
 
In singles competition, Castro put Campbellsville ahead, 4-0, after a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles against Maini. At No. 3 singles, O'keefe won in straight sets and dropped just one game over the two sets against Adam Slone to secure the team victory.
 
Reyes earned a 6-2, 6-3 win against Max Middleton at the second-seeded singles match, while Alonso Munoz defeated Akmon, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 4 singles. The Tigers did not drop a set through out as Spalding won in straight sets at No. 5 singles, followed by a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles by Mehdi Bichiri to secure Campbellsville's 9-0 victory.
 
The Tigers open their home slate on Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET against NCAA Division II Lake Superior State University from the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex.
