Lady Tigers end season with a 5-3 loss in NCCAA Semifinals against Indiana Wesleyan

MOBILE, Ala. – The season came to a close for the Campbellsville women's tennis team after dropping a 5-3 contest to top-seeded Indiana Wesleyan University in the semifinals of the NCCAA National Championship on Thursday at Mobile Tennis Center.

The Lady Tigers (14-9) started strong taking two doubles contests. Bolor Enkhbayar and Majella Nobile grabbed an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles over Alex Mella and Lizzie Bauss. Then at No. 2 doubles, Kaede Amano and Brooklyn Harris edged Olivia Reed and Thewuni Devaraja, 8-6.

After Campbellsville defaulted No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, the match was all square, 2-2, to start singles competition. Amano won, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 1 singles against Mella, as Amano was the lone Lady Tiger to post a win in singles action.

Devaraja took down Nobile, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 3 singles and then Marissa Klein earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 4 singles against Harris. The final singles point for the Wildcats (33-4) was from Reed – who won, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 singles – to seal the 5-3 win for Indiana Wesleyan.

The only unfinished match was No. 2 singles with Enkhbayar down a set, but tied in the second set with Bauss.

Campbellsville rounds out the season with an overall record of 14-9.
