CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – In a game where both teams seemed to be looking for a break to get them on the board, it was Lindsey Wilson College that was able to find the back of the net in the 80
th minute to earn a 1-0 win over the Campbellsville University women's soccer team.
The Lady Tigers controlled the ball for a lot of the match, but the Blue Raiders finished the game with a 13-10 shot advantage behind a first half where LWC outshot CU 6-3.
Lindsey Wilson's goal came off the head of Sina Cavelti after a bit of a scramble after a Blue Raider corner kick. The corner was initially cleared but the ball was sent back in, punched out by goalie
Katelyn Young before falling to Kim DeGroot, who shot off the post first before gather back, centering to Cavelti for the header goal.
CU had a chance to tie the game in the 85
th minute as the ball found
Sangmin Cha in the box but an excellent save was made by the LWC goalie, Jovana Ivanivic, to keep the Lady Tigers off the scoreboard.
That chance was the last quality chance for Campbellsville and their best chance all night as the Blue Raiders took a defensive game plan into Wednesday night's game, allowing CU to hold possession but never allowing them space in the middle of the field.
Campbellsville will have one more game remaining in the regular season and it will be Senior Day for the Lady Tigers this Saturday against Cumberland University at 1:30 p.m. ET with Senior Day festivities beginning around 1:10.
