CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Needing a win in conference play, Campbellsville men's tennis got it today as CU upset No. 14 University of the Cumberlands.

It was the bottom three seeded players in singles that pulled out the win for Campbellsville. After the Tigers led 2-1 once doubles was finished, Cumberlands won the first three singles matches and led, 4-2.

But then it was Cristian Perez, Cesar Castro and Matus Sevcik picked up three straight set wins.

Perez took down Jan Deitrich, 7-6, 6-4, while Castro won 6-1, 6-4 over Eric Banoub. The Tigers sealed the comeback win as Sevcik knocked off Anthony Kwok, 7-5, 6-1.

The doubles wins came at Nos. 2-3. Perez and Castro teamed up to win 8-4, while Sevcik and Adrian Sabrojo won in extra sets, 9-8.

Campbellsville improves its record to 14-6 overall and 3-2 in Mid-South Conference play. The Tigers travel to Georgetown College for another MSC match on Saturday, April 13.
