Hall’s hat trick carries CU to 8-1 win over Ohio Christian in 2019 home opener

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – After a stunning defeat at the hands of Asbury on Wednesday, the Campbellsville University women's soccer team had a goal scoring mindset Saturday evening as they hosted Ohio Christian.

Another slightly slow start hindered head coach Alex Adams' squad but the Lady Tigers were able to break through in the 32nd minute when Andrea Brizuela fired a shot that deflected off of the head of a OCU defender and found it's way to the back of the net.

That goal seemingly helped CU breathe easy because they exploded offensively in the second half for seven goals on their way to an 8-1 win over the Trailblazers.

2018 20-goal scorer Molly Hall got going in a big way Saturday as she recorded the first hat trick of the season for Campbellsville. Hall was able to score in the 61st, 74th, and 86th minute as each goal was a bit different.

The first goal was on a loose ball in the box as she won a battle to get her foot to it first, the second was a back-heel flick on a cross from Lakin Walls, and the third was a header on another cross, this time from Sangmin Cha.

Brizuela was able to add a second goal in the second half as Walls, Hope Sanders, and Olja Ivanovic all got their first goals of the season as well. Walls, the 2018 NAIA All-American scored her goal on a penalty kick in the 77th minute after one of her shot attempts was blocked down by the hand of an OCU defender.

The Lady Tigers will look to continue this kind of offensive play next Wednesay when the Bearcats of Brescia University come to Campbellsville for a 6 p.m. ET kickoff at Finley Stadium.
