Fan Attendance Policy 9-15-2020

COVID-19 CU Athletics

Campbellsville Athletics announces no fans will be permitted into indoor athletic events for the remainder of 2020

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – As Campbellsville University gears up for the upcoming winter season of athletics, the athletic department, Vice President for Student Services and Athletics Rusty Hollingsworth, and Athletic Director Jim Hardy announced CU will restrict spectators from attending inside athletic events from now until Jan. 1.

This changes the original policy put into place in mid-September.

"As with all COVID-19 policies in the past few months things can change," said Hardy. "If things in our nation, state, and institution were to get much better in the next few weeks this could certainly be revisited. We are doing everything we can to protect our student-athletes and allow for the competitive experience. With the recent changes in CDC guidelines concerning contact tracing and quarantine we felt it best to enact this guideline to give student-athletes the best chance to continue to stay healthy and compete."

Indoor facilities that host events include, Powell Athletic Center (basketball), Gosser Gymnasium (volleyball), the Wrestling Facility, and the Swimming Pool. Any events hosted in those facilities will be strictly limited to competitors, coaches, officials, and support staff.

Outdoor facilities such as HIG Field (baseball), Hord Field (softball), and Kelly Hall Tennis Complex (tennis) will still allow spectators who are socially distanced and wearing masks.

Finley Stadium's upgraded press box is still under construction; thus, fans will still be prohibited from entering the facility to spectate any events. Fans can still observe from outside the fence surrounding the field while still following the social distancing and mask protocols.
