SPRING ARBOR, MI – Lady Tigers made the most of their chances early and late in the match in their NAIA Opening Round loss against Truett McConnell with a score of 5-2.
Campbellsville struck first early in the match in the ninth minute of play with
Rebecca Lilley striking the ball just outside the six-yard box with the assist coming from
Lina Berrah from down the line.
Truett McConnel countered less than two minutes later with a goal of their own to tie the match at 1-1.
Truett went on to score again to press the leading issue in the 19
th minute of play. The Bears Hannah Logue and Eliska Dvorakova were the threats all afternoon against the Lady Tigers. They scored or assisted on four of their five goals.
Campbellsville still pressed on the attack in the second pushing their formation higher than usual to bring pressure into the box. Lilley was able to score her second goal late in the match in the 84
th minute on a cross into the box from
Angeline Kieh.
Doeschka Birnage was able to pick up eight saves on her afternoon.
With the loss, Campbellsville concludes their season with a final record of 13-5. They achieved the highest ranking in program history throughout the historic season at 13
th in the country and finished the regular season poll at 17
th.
