MCKENZIE, Tenn. – Entering the weekend with only one loss in Mid-South Conference play, the Campbellsville University softball team split their doubleheader on Friday with Bethel University.
The Wildcats took game one by a final score of 4-2 with the Lady Tigers pulling out the game two victory 3-1. Both starting pitchers for both teams went complete games as
Katy Chadwell suffered the loss in game one for CU and
Karson Williams earned the win in game two.
Williams was strong in the circle, allowing one earned run on six hits with a walk and five strikeouts on only 93 pitches in the game. Chadwell gave up four runs, three earned, while allowing eight hits and striking out three on 81 pitches.
At the plate, Campbellsville produced only 10 hits over the 14 innings with
Hannah Judd and
Tori Humphrey providing the RBI hits in game one with
Ryley Whitney,
Payton Blades, and Judd driving in runs in game two.
Blades hit a solo home run in the sixth inning of game two with the score tied at 1-1 to give the Lady Tigers a 2-1 lead that Williams was able to hold.
Campbellsville and Bethel will take Saturday off due to the weather in McKenzie and will come back to play their final two games on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. ET.
