OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Campbellsville University women's tennis team made relatively quick work of Shawnee State University Friday afternoon as they earned a 4-0 win to advance to the Mid-South Conference Tournament semifinals.
The only match lost by CU in the dual was at No. 1 doubles but the Lady Tigers were still able to pull out the doubles point with wins at No. 2 by
Brenda Aguilar and
Madison Hill (6-2) and at No. 3 by
Rebeca Scurt and
Angela Mendoza (6-0).
Mendoza earned the first singles point at No. 3 singles with a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep of her opponent then the lower half of the Campbellsville order came away with wins as HIll had her own clean 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 followed by the dual clinching point from
Blaeke Mitchell at No. 6 as Mitchell only dropped one set for a 6-0, 6-1 win,.
The Lady Tigers will advance to the semifinal round where they will match up with No. 2 seeded Lindsey Wilson College for a 1:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. CT start in Owensboro, Ky. Saturday afternoon.
