Proctor's lone goal not enough as Blue Raiders win MSC quarterfinal match, 5-1

COLUMBIA, Ky. — The Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year, Abigail Proctor, scored her seventh goal of the year but it wasn't enough for Campbellsville women's soccer on Friday night as the Lady Tigers lost 5-1 to Lindsey Wilson in the Mid-South Conference Quarterfinals.

The loss ends Campbellsville's season with an 8-7 record overall after reaching the quarterfinal round for the third time in program history. The Blue Raiders (9-2) move to the semifinal round to square off with University of the Cumberlands on Saturday in Columbia.

Tonight's game was in favor of the Blue Raiders from the kickoff as Lindsey Wilson took advantage of injuries in the back line of defense for CU. Lindsey Wilson took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute and never looked back as Yudaya Nakayenze netted her sixth goal of the year beating the defense and Katelyn Young upper-90 to the near post.

The lead would balloon to 2-0 before the halftime break as Alicia Thoresen headed in her third goal of the year after an assist to Britt Tonis.

Trailing 2-0 going into halftime, the Lady Tigers fell victim to a quick score in the 49th minute as Nakayenze found Silvia Marchesi on a 2v1 opportunity and she finished past Young.

The Blue Raiders tacked on two more goals to seal the victory as Proctor's score wasn't enough for Campbellsville.

Lindsey Wilson led the shots category, 19-15, and has 12 of those on frame while Campbellsville finished with just five shots on goal. Katelyn Young finished with seven saves while Evelin Frigotto stopped four.
