BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After getting her true freshman season shortened by the COVID-19 outbreak, Campbellsville University women's golfer Gracie Parrott was named the Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year following her win at the Mid-South Conference Championship Friday afternoon.
 
Parrott shot the lone under par score in the three-round tournament with rounds of 69 (-3), 74 (+2), and 71 (-1) to finish at 214 (-2). That 214 was 10 strokes better than the second place finisher as Parrott was able to cruise to the victory and clinch the Freshman of the Year honor.
 
That honor is the first for CU since Cassidy Scantland also did so the year she won the MSC Championship in 2013-14. The honor takes into account the three tournaments hosted by the conference in the Fall and Spring Invites.
 
At the MSC Fall Championships, Parrott finished tied for eighth with a two-round total of 160 (+16) at Bowling Green Country Club back on Oct. 30-31. At the Spring Preview, Parrott just missed out on the top 10 as she finished in 11^th with a two-round 158 (+14) at Cumberland Mountain Bear Trace Golf Course in Crossville, Tenn. on Apr. 19-20.
 
Missing out on the top 10 was rare for Parrott on the 2020-21 season as she won three tournaments in the MSC Championship, the Lindsey Wilson College Invitational to open the fall and the Campbellsville Invitational. She also added a runner-up finish at the Music City Invitational, a fifth place finish at the TWU Spring Invite, and tied for 10^th at the Roadrunner Invitational to finish the year with seven top 10 finishes individually.
 
Her three wins this season pushes her career wins total up to five now after winning twice in the 2019-20 season before the season was canceled.
 
With Parrott's victory at the MSC Championship, she has clinched an appearance in the NAIA Championships as an individual and hopes to be joined by her teammates if the Lady Tigers are to earn an at large bid as a team.
