Campbellsville, Ky. — The Lady Tigers came into tonight's contest looking to defend their 4-game winning streak on their home turf at Finley Stadium. Campbellsville hosted University of The Cumberlands. The Lady Patriots currently sit at #4 in the country. The Lady Tigers were unable to close the game out, letting up a goal in the last five minutes, dropping the contest 2-1.
The match started off extremely hot as the first goal was scored in the 6
th minute. It wasn't the tigers that were able to get on the scoreboard first. Lady Patriot Carola Fontan was able to slip one past
Rirei Sasaki in the early minutes. For the next little bit, both teams were locked in, neither team willing to give up an inch. The Lady Tigers finally broke the drought in the 23
rd minute.
Angeline Kieh was able to do something she does quite often and that's find the back of the net. Kieh's goal was assisted by
Agatha Nimene. The Lady Tigers and Patriots finished the half at a gridlock, 1-1.
The second half started out slower than the first, with a similar line of action to the first half, with both teams not giving up an inch. The two teams showed some fantastic poise as both went through a tough defensive match. It was all even until a free kick gave the Patriots all they needed. In the 85
th minute, Carola Fontan secured her second goal of the match via a free kick. The match's final buzzer sounded as the Lady Tigers were unable to match the Lady Patriots' last goal.
