WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – For the first time in program history, Campbellsville has won the Mid-South Conference Championships 3-0 over the 2021 NAIA National Champions.
The last time Campbellsville appeared in the Mid-South Conference Championship was in 2015, when the Tigers faced off against Lindsey Wilson. The Blue Raiders defeated the team 2-0 that season.
UT Southern came into the match ranked 8th in the country in the most recent poll. That did not matter. Angeline Kieh found the back of the net once again for Campbellsville to get the early scoring started.
Jessie Bryson went on to double the lead for the Tigers with her goal in the 15th to make it 2-0. The score stayed stagnant for the next 20 minutes until Jenna Croteau netted a deflection on the crossbar, and she was able to convert it into a goal making it 3-0.
The Firehawks tried to spark life into the team with a late goal in the 82nd minute from Badoedana. Rirei Sasaki was able to come in clutch for the Tigers finishing with five saves.
Campbellsville now receives the automatic bid to the NAIA Championships. The Selection Show will be Monday, November 14th. The Tigers have beaten two host site schools in the conference tournament. The University of the Cumberlands and UT Southern have already locked in hosting the opening round at their campus.
