The win streak stretches to 16 for the Lady Tigers with series sweep over Thomas More

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -  The (RV) Campbellsville Lady Tiger Softball Team continued their home campaign against Thomas More University Saturday afternoon. After two victories on Friday, the Lady Tigers swept the Saints in a 4-0 series victory.  
 
Game one: Campbellsville 3, Thomas More 0 
 
Katy Chadwell and the Tigers' defense retired all three of the Saints to move into the bottom half of the inning. Lexi Miller sent a pitch over the left center fence for a solo homerun and the first run of the ball game. For back-to-back home runs, Ryley Whitney sent a pitch over the center field fence. The Lady Tigers took an early two-run lead over the Saint to go into the second inning.  
 
For the second inning in a row, the Lady Tigers put away the Saints in a three up, three down fashion. Unlike the opening frame, Campbellsville couldn't keep their bats hot. To begin the third inning, two Saints found their way on base after being hit by pitches. An infield error left the bases loaded for the Saints. The Lady Tigers came back with three straight outs to get out of a jam and shut down any opportunity for the Saints to score. In their chance at bat and with two outs, Payton Blades reached base via walk but was left on base to go into the fourth inning.  
 
A double play from Chadwell, Riley Hurst, and Keely Bowling ended the top half of the fourth inning. With one out, Sam McKee singled up the middle. Oldham reached base after being hit by a pitch and advance McKee to second base. Hurst reached via walk to load the bases for the Lady Tigers. Unfortunately, all three were left stranded on base.  
 
To begin the fifth inning, the Saints put two runners in scoring position on a one-out double. The Lady Tigers retired the last two outs of the inning and kept the Saints scoreless. With two outs, Bowling doubled to right center. Windell doubled to left field and scored Bowling to give the Lady Tigers a three-run lead over the Saints. McKee reached base off a walk. Again the Saints defense left Windell and McKee on base to go into the sixth inning.  
 
During the bottom half of the sixth inning, Miller singled down the left field line but was left on base. In the seventh inning, the Saints put two runners on base but the Lady Tigers kept them from scoring to end the ball game. The Lady Tiger took a 3-0 victory over the Saints of Thomas More.  
 
The Lady Tigers had seven total hits with two belonging to Miller. Chadwell threw a total of 97 pitches with a .639 strike percentage compared to a .583 strike percentage from Thomas More's Annika Gels.  
 
Game two: Campbellsville 14, Thomas More 4 
 
Hurst came out hot for the Lady Tigers and singled to third base in the bottom of the first inning. Miller singled up the middle and advanced Hurst into scoring position at third base. Miller stole second and Hurst scored on the throw. Whitney reached base via walk. With two outs and two runners on base, McKee hit an RBI single to center field and advanced Whitney to second base.
 
With two outs in the bottom of the second, Miller doubled to third base. Whitney was given free bases after being walked. Blades smacked a two RBI double to right field. Madison Davis singled to left center to bring Blades home and gave the Lady Tigers a five-run lead over the Saints. Davis stole second base on a wild pitch. McKee reached first on an outfield error and advanced to second base. Davis was able to sprint home for the run on the error. Oldham doubled to left field to score McKee and Campbellsville took a seven-run advantage.  
 
The Saints put two runners in scoring position to begin the third inning. On a sacrifice fly, the Saints sent one runner across the plate to cut into the Lady Tigers' lead. With two outs and runners on the corners, the Saints pushed another runner in to score on a single to center field. An infield error sent in another Saints' base runner. Before the end of inning, the Saints would get one more run to leave the Lady Tigers with only a three-run lead. In their opportunity to answer, Hurst started the bottom of the third inning with a one-out single up the middle. The Lady Tigers were walked two times to load the bases. After a sacrifice fly from Blades, Hurst came in for a run. On a wild pitch, Miller and Whitney moved into scoring position. Bowling singled to left field and scored Miller. With runners on the corners, McKee smacked an RBI single to center field. Bowling and McKee were left on base but not before the Lady Tigers took a 10-4 lead over the Saints.  
  
With no outs in the fourth inning, the Saints had two runners in scoring position. Courtney Patterson came in to relieve Karson Williams in the circle. Patterson and the Lady Tigers' retired the next three Saints' batters. Miller started the bottom of the fifth inning with a stand-up, lead-off double. Whitney doubled to right center and scored Miller. Journey Knowles came in to pinch run for Whitney. Knowles advanced to third base on a ground out from Blades. Bowling was given free bases after being hit by a pitch. With two runners on base, Oldham sent a pitch over the center field fence to win the ball game in walk-off fashion. The Lady Tigers took the victory over the Saints of Thomas More, 14-4.  
 
The Lady Tigers had 14 total hits with three belonging to Miller. Campbellsville capitalized with two outs on numerous occasions. Williams and Patterson threw a combined total of 103 pitches with a .573 strike percentage.  
 
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to take on Bethel University in a double header on Tuesday at home. The games are set to begin at 2 p.m. ET and 4 p.m. ET.
