Lady Tigers can't get their bats going against Lindsey Wilson

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.– The #2 Lady Tigers took on the #3 Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders on neutral ground as they competed in the Mid-South Conference tournament Friday night after multiple weather delays. Campbellsville's offense was stagnant and they dropped the contest to Lindsey Wilson, 7-1.

The Blue Raiders drove a run across the plate early in the game to get the lead over Campbellsville. Although Campbellsville acquired two outs in an effort to end their runs there, Lindsey Wilson racked up RBIs to increase their lead. Katy Chadwell eventually solidified her second strikeout and closed Lindsey's time at the plate. Campbellsville made no advancements toward a tie score as their time at the plate was cut short.

The Lady Tigers responded to their discrepancy by shutting down the next three batters with two strikeouts and a ground out. However, the Blue Raiders returned to defense with the same intensity as three of Campbellsville's batters were retired.

For the second time, Lindsey Wilson scored a run while the Lady Tigers had two outs. Chadwell shimmied her way out of the third inning with a backwards K which left three runners on the bases for Lindsey. Back at the plate, the Lady Tigers earned a base from a walk. Although they placed a runner on, they could not must an advance or a run.

In the top of the fourth, Lindsey Wilson put two more runs up on the board. In the bottom of the fifth, the Blue Raiders had runners in scoring position yet again. However, key plays made by Riley Hurst and Ryleigh Oldham halted the runners from earning runs.

Lindsey Wilson added yet another run to their score in the top of the sixth. On the return, Hurst earned a walk to trot down the first baseline. Lexi Miller flushed a ball through shortstop and third base to push Hurst around to second base. Nothing came from the loaded bases as the next three batters flied out to the Blue Raider defenders.

Lindsey Wilson held the Lady Tigers to an ever-increasing deficit. In the later stages of the game, Madison Davis walked to secure first base. Ashby Murt's single placed Davis and herself on the corners of the diamond. Hurst collected her first hit of the game as she batted in McKee (acting as pinch runner for Davis). Lindsey Wilson would then amass their final out against the Lady Tigers.

Campbellsville's offense was unable to compare to that of Lindsey Wilson's Friday night. Both Hurst and Murt batted a .333 percent with one hit apiece. Miller followed closely with a .250 percent. Campbellsville's pitching fell short to the Blue Raiders as well. Chadwell, Courtney Patterson, and Emily Reynolds accumulated a .597 strike-percentage. Their competitor, Emily Bion, grossed a solo .706 percent. The hit differential was the story of the game: the Lady Tigers posted only three compared to Lindsey Wilson's 12.

The Lady Tigers will compete again Saturday afternoon against #7 Bethel University in the consolation bracket. The tournament is double elimination; thus, Campbellsville must win tomorrow's match to continue their time in the tournament. The contest will be held in Bowling Green, Ky at Spartan Park at 2:30 p.m. ET.
