Lady Tigers fall to Patriots in MSC Semifinals 5-1

Williamsburg, Ky. – The Lady Tigers traveled to Williamsburg, Kentucky, to take on the Patriots of the University of the Cumberlands in the Mid-South Conference Semifinals. Campbellsville fell to the Cumberlands, 5-1.

The Patriots didn't wait around to add a goal to their side of the scoreboard in the first seven minutes of action. Angeline Kieh attempted to respond with a goal of her own but was blocked. In the 26th minute, the Patriots sent another into the net to take a 2-0 lead over the Tigers. Two yellow cards were given to the Patriots, and foul-after-foul sent the match into the second half.

Kieh with a corner kick and shots by Olja Ivanovic and Bethin Boyle started the second half. The Patriots tried to add another goal to the scoreboard but were stopped by Rirei Sasaki. The Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year, Patriot's Nicole Araujo, shot the third goal for the Cumberlands over 35 yards out. Lulu Harris attempted to put the Tigers on the scoreboard with a shot but was blocked by the Patriot's defense. Agatha Nimene took a shot of her own but was unsuccessful. In the 65th minute, the Patriots took a 4-0 lead over the Tigers with another goal. After three corner kicks in a row for the Tigers, Lina Berrah put Campbellsville on the scoreboard with their first goal of the match. In the 74th minute, the Patriots sent another into the net to take a 5-1 lead over the Tigers. Shots by Harris, Nimene, and Johanna Staahl were attempted but weren't enough for the Tigers.

Campbellsville led with four saves to two from the Patriots. The Tigers weren't too far behind in many other categories: shots (11-13), corner kicks (5-6), and shots on goal (3-9).

The Lady Tigers will wait for an announcement on Monday, November 13th, at 3 p.m. ET to determine if they will advance to the NAIA Opening Round.
