CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.– The #13 Lady Tigers wrestling team hosted #9 Indiana Tech for their final home appearance and Senior Night Friday evening. Four seniors aided in the defeat of the Warriors as they solidified a 34-13 victory.
The Lady Tigers started strong as Gabrielle Medeiros shut down #16 Sydney Kutzke in a 1:31 fall. Indiana Tech stole away the subsequent two bouts; however, Campbellsville did not suffer another loss afterward. #19 Jacqueline Ghent locked in a win over her Warrior opponent with a 12-2 technical fall. Moments later, officials claimed a 7-2 decision as #6 Angie Vitiritti out bested her #16 foe. #13 Taylor Howell overpowered her rival #17 in a 15-5 technical fall to push the Lady Tigers ahead 16-9.
As the night rang on, Campbellsville's #4 Emma Walker bested Indiana Tech's #17 Maia Crumb in a 4:01 pin. The Lady Tigers continued their winning pursuit over the Warriors uninterrupted by Indiana Tech. Up next, #16 Kendra Thompson forced her challenger to a 1:51 fall. As #20 Sierra Chavez completed her match with her opponent in a 10-0 technical fall, #9 Liliana Vergara towered over #6 Riley Dempewolf in a decision of 6-2.
The Lady Tigers will hit the mats in the Mid-South Conference Championship Thursday, February 23rd. The Conference tournament will station in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Campbellsville's opponents and times will be announced at a further date.
