CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University has shared that Alex Mailes has been hired as the Head Men's Tennis Coach for the Tigers.
"We are happy to announce the addition of Alex Mailes as our Head Men's Tennis Coach," Athletic Director Jim Hardy said. "Alex has had great experience teaching the game of tennis and competed at the highest levels. We look forward to his growth as a coach and success of our program. Welcome to the Tiger family, Alex!"
Mailes, playing high school tennis in Joplin, Missouri, was Southeast Missouri Boys' Tennis Player of the Year 2014, USTA Missouri District Player of the Year (2016), ranked #1 Missouri Valley Men's Open Singles at year's end (2017), and was a three-time champion of Boys' Tennis Singles in Missouri (2014-2016).
For his collegiate career, Mailes attended the University of North Dakota from where he graduated in 2020 with a degree in chemical engineering. As a Fighting Hawk, Mailes earned Newcomer of the Year and Most Improved Player while also collecting accolades academically with his placement on the honor roll. He held varsity positions for North Dakota as high as the second slot in both singles and doubles play, winning over 50 matches. Mailes served as a volunteer assistant coach for the University of North Dakota in 2021.
