Prieto scores three-of-six Lady Tiger goals in 6-0 victory over Jimmies

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The #20 Lady Tigers hosted the University of Jamestown Jimmies on Saturday night, looking to extend their hot streak. Campbellsville shut out the Jimmies in part due to Prieto's game-high three goals and the Tigers' defense to extend their record to 8-0.

Opening the first half, both Campbellsville and Jamestown were off to a quiet start as neither team could break through the other's defense. Though the Jimmies, in time, broke through, Tigers' goalie Milly Shakespeare was not deterred and collected two saves to keep Jamestown off the board. Campbellsville quickly responded with a goal coming from McKenzie Settles, assisted by Marta Prieto. Multiple Tigers attempted shots for the rest of the half but were unsuccessful. However, with three minutes left in the half, Amelie Matheis stepped up to the challenge and found the back of the net on a penalty kick.

Kicking off the second, the Tigers' momentum carried over, and Momo Chogyoji attempted a shot at goal three minutes into the half but was saved by the Jimmies goalie. Not long after, Lina Berrah took her shot at the goalie, beating her and securing another goal for Campbellsville. Jamestown made multiple attempts to get on the scoreboard, but was unsuccessful in part to Shakespeare. Prieto undoubtedly had the hot foot as she scored two goals, one assisted by Berrah, and a self goal in the span of five minutes.

Campbellsville will return to action on Tuesday, September 24th, at Finley Stadium, facing off against Berea College. The game is set to begin at 6 p.m. ET.

  • The Lady Tigers were perfect all around, beating the Jimmies in every statistical category. Shakespeare had an outstanding five saves, and Prieto went perfect with shot attempts, only taking three and making all.
  • Prieto led with three goals, giving her seven total goals on the season. After scoring six goals tonight, the Tigers have 40 total goals on the season and a .250 shot percentage.
  • The Tigers' perfect 8-0 start marks the second perfect start and second longest winning streak since 2015. The 2015 team went on to win their first 15 matches of the season.
