CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The (RV) Lady Tigers hosted the Bethel University Wildcats for the first of three games this weekend in the final Mid-South Conference series before the postseason. With two tie-breaking runs in the sixth inning, Campbellsville took the clutch victory over Bethel, 5-3.
Each team collected a hit in the game's opening inning, but neither could score.
The Wildcats were quickly put away in a three-up, three-down style during the top of the second. Rylee Warner reached base via walk during the Lady Tigers' share of the second, but she could not get further before the end of the inning.
Bethel was first on the scoreboard with the first run of the game in the opening of the third. Korey Harris and Emily Reynolds each singled up the middle during the bottom of the inning, but again, runners were left stranded.
Although the Wildcats collected another single during their portion of the fourth, they did not capitalize off their hit. With a single to right center by Ashby Murt, Warner put Campbellsville on the scoreboard.
A two-RBI double to left field by Bethel earned them the lead at the top of the fifth. However, Madison Reed retaliated with her two-RBI single up the middle, tying the score.
The Wildcats' top of the sixth was short-lived, put away in a three-up, three-down fashion. With the Lady Tigers' bases loaded, Jessie Daniels reached based on a fielder's choice, Reynolds and Harris advancing in their bases and pushing Camille Conkright to cross the plate to steal the lead. A sacrifice fly from Selynna Metcalfe brought Harris to follow across the home plate to widen the gap.
Campbellsville took the victory as Bethel was put away swiftly during the top of the seventh inning.
