COLUMBIA, SC – Dominic Malel led the Tigers to a runner-up finish at the NCCAA Outdoor Championships this week with a combined 21.5 points.

Malel ran all of his events in a 14-hour time frame. He helped the 4x800m relay team earn All-American honors, placing 3rd overall in 7:45.71. Lukas Smithson, Alex Steen, and Ethan Johnson were also on the relay. One hour later, Malel went on to win the 10,000m run with a kick in the final lap that results in a 63-second split and ran a time of 31:31.48. 12 hours later he would win the 5,000m run in another home stretch sprint in a time of 15:03.91. 

Schavon Carr joined Malel on the winner's podium with his victory in the 110m hurdles. Carr won the event in 14.31 which was .91 seconds faster than any of his opponents. Carr had his second win come from the 4x100m relay with Zachary Phelps, Isaiah Johnson, and Jason Baskerville crossing the line in 41.20. 

The rest of the meet, Campbellsville was able to build upon their runner-up score. In the 100m Baskerville placed 4th in the finals at 10.51. Phelps earned the Tigers one point in the 200m finals where he ran a time of 25.60. Phelps was able to pick up on All-American in the 200m with a runner-up finish of 48.80. Kamarion Ward was .01 seconds off a podium finish in the 400m with a 4th place time of 48.85. 

Alex Steen earned two team points in the 1500m run with a 7th-place time of 4:07.67. Martin Batel and Smithson combined for 13 points in the 3,000m steeplechase. Batel was the runner-up in the event at 9:25.00, and Smithson was 4th in 9:40.21. Samuel Larson earned the final point in the event in 8th place in 10:20.78. In the 4x400m relay, Chris Thomas, Phelps, Matthias Brice, and Ward ran for a bronze medal in 3:17.20. 

For the field events, CamRon Hamby earned another All-American finish in the high jump. Hamby hit a height of 1.98m on his final attempt. Hamby garnered his second All-American of the meet in the long jump with a mark of 6.93m. Mavrik Hall completed his rookie season for the Tigers in the shot put. Hall placed 4th in the event at 14.49m. 

Joel Roberts and Jonah Oliver finished in back-to-back positions in the discus throw. Roberts placed 6th overall with a mark of 42.91m, and Oliver was 7th at 41.40m. Oliver completed his final event ever for Campbellsville in the hammer throw. He was able to earn the team one last point with an 8th-place mark of 43.09m. 

As a team, Campbellsville combined for 110 team points. Malone won the meet with a team total of 113 team points. 

The Tigers will now look ahead towards the NAIA Outdoor National Championship May 21-23. The team will take multiple athletes across five different events.
