CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Campbellsville University Lady Tiger Softball team faced off against the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders in the Mid-South Conference Championship Tournament, suffering a 7-2 defeat after a rain delay.
The start of the game, originally scheduled for 1 p.m. ET, was delayed due to weather. After nearly seven hours of anticipation, the contest finally got underway.
Lindsey Wilson took an early lead in the first inning, scoring four runs. A Blue Raider singled, and after another's sacrifice bunt, Lindsey Wilson hit a two-run homer to center field. The hits kept coming as a solo ball went over the left-field fence, and then a double preceded a sacrifice fly to bring the Blue Raiders to four runs.
Campbellsville responded at the bottom of the first when Emily Reynolds hit a solo home run to left field, scoring 4-1.
Lindsey Wilson added two more runs in the second inning with a two-run homer. Then, the Blue Raiders homered again to left center in the third inning, extending Lindsey Wilson's lead to 7-1.
Campbellsville scored their final run in the bottom of the seventh inning when Madison Reed singled to left field, scoring Selynna Metcalfe, who reached base on a fielding error.
Lindsey Wilson scored seven runs on 11 hits and committed one error, while Campbellsville scored two runs on five hits and also committed one error.
Emily Reynolds hit a home run for Campbellsville, and Jessie Daniels had two hits.
Their loss marked the second consecutive year their MSC postseason goals were dashed by the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders (3-2 defeat in 2024).
