GAME ONE: Campbellsville 4, Georgetown 2
The opening match-up of the afternoon displayed quality pitching from junior
Leah Holland, who kept the Georgetown lineup completely off balance. Campbellsville found their offensive spark early, capitalizing on Georgetown miscues in the top of the second inning.
Hannah Hackworth jump-started the rally with a double to right field, later scoring on a wild pitch. Moments later,
Madison Reed crossed the plate on a throwing error by the catcher to give the Lady Tigers an initial 2-0 advantage.
Holland operated masterfully with the lead, tossing five scoreless innings while scattering just three hits and striking out one. Shortstop
Korey Harris was practically automatic at the plate, turning in a perfect 4-for-4 performance to keep the basepaths crowded for Campbellsville.
In the top of the fifth, the Lady Tigers found a burst of energy to extend their lead. Following a single by
Rylee Warner and a walk drawn by
Karleigh Walker,
Madison Reed stepped into the box and ripped a clutch two-run double to right-center, scoring Warner and pinch-runner
Makayla Hogg to make it 4-0.
Georgetown did not back down to the challenge of trailing, mounting a late surge in the bottom of the sixth. Delaney Vaughn singled to right field to drive in two runs and cut the deficit in half. However, reliever
Ellie Coley stood firm in the circle, shutting down the Tigers over the final two frames to secure the 4-2 victory.
GAME TWO: Campbellsville 7, Georgetown 0
Heading into the series finale, the Lady Tigers carried their momentum and completely dictated the tempo on the diamond, utilizing aggressive baserunning and a combined pitching shutout to roll past Georgetown 7-0.
Campbellsville struck in the top of the second inning.
Macy McCoy singled to right, stole second, and was immediately driven home by an RBI single up the middle from
Ashlan Estep. After Estep swiped second base, Harris delivered an RBI single to right field to put the Lady Tigers up 2-0.
The offense exploded for three more runs in the fourth inning, largely manufactured by pure hustle. McCoy walked and stole second, followed by another Estep single. During Harris's at-bat, a Georgetown throwing error allowed both McCoy and Estep to race home. Harris then stole second and later scored on a passed ball to widen the gap to 5-0.
The Lady Tigers continued to add on in the late innings. McCoy smashed an RBI double to right-center in the fifth to score Hogg, and
Jessie Daniels launched an RBI double to left field in the sixth to bring Warner across the plate, finalizing the 7-0 tally.
