Tigers post solid marks, build outdoor momentum at Lee University Invitational

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — The Campbellsville University Track & Field teams carried their outdoor season to the Volunteer State this weekend, posting solid performances across a multitude of events at the Lee University Invitational while continuing to build momentum for the spring campaign.

  • Samuel Larson delivered the highest individual placement for the Tigers, capturing a runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:13.66.
  • Makiyah Allen secured a pair of top-five finishes, blazing to third place in the 100-meter dash (12.38) and fourth place in the 100-meter hurdles (14.82).
  • Matthias Brice paced the men's sprinters with a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash, crossing the line in 49.08 seconds.
  • Kayla Barr anchored the women's throws with a seventh-place finish in the discus (36.33m) and an eighth-place mark in the shot put (11.27m).

  • The Campbellsville Tigers will head down Highway 55 next weekend to compete at Lindsey Wilson College's Blue Raider Rumble on Saturday, March 28th.
The Tigers' sprinters showed speed and consistency on the track. Matthias Brice led the long sprinters in the 400-meter dash, placing sixth overall with a time of 49.08 seconds. Teammates Chris Thomas (9th, 49.60) and Isiah Bain (11th, 50.00) added crucial depth in the quarter-mile event. In the shorter sprints, Isaiah Johnson clocked a 10.95 in the 100-meter dash and a 22.41 in the 200-meter dash. Neo Khanye also impressed on the straightaway, crossing the line in 11.18 seconds in the 100 meters.

In the middle distances, Austin Barnes and Samuel Larson posted strong times in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:01.60 and 2:03.14, respectively. Barnes returned to the track for the 1,500 meters, stopping the clock at 4:23.29 to place 30th.

The distance squad was highlighted by Samuel Larson, who earned second place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a 10:13.66 finish. In the 5,000 meters, Martin Batel secured a top-10 placement, finishing eighth with a time of 15:18.72.

In the field events, Neo Khanye showcased his explosiveness, placing fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.71 meters. Joel Roberts led the throwing unit, finishing ninth in the discus throw (40.71m) and 11th in the hammer throw (39.59m). Connor Crabtree achieved a mark of 1.85 meters to place 10th in the high jump and cleared 3.85 meters to finish 11th in the pole vault.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Thomas, Brice, Bain, and Mouhamed Pouye capped off the track events by placing sixth in 3:19.64.

The Lady Tigers were paced by senior standout Makiyah Allen, who scored highly across multiple disciplines. Allen captured a bronze-medal finish in the 100-meter dash with a swift 12.38 and placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.82. She also added a 19th-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.20.

Elizabeth Kamara and Alexzandria Rivers contributed strong finishes in the short sprints. Kamara ran 12.88 in the 100 meters and 27.10 in the 200 meters, while Rivers crossed the line in 13.37 and 27.77, respectively.

In the middle-distance events, Karly Spalding led the CU effort in the 800 meters, placing 21st with a time of 2:33.95, closely followed by Brianna Collins at 2:35.43. Julia Smaldone paced the 1,500-meter crew, running 5:32.69 to place 35th. In the 5,000 meters, Emma Madding fought to a 13th-place finish with a time of 19:17.58.

The field events were highlighted by Kayla Barr, who threw 36.33 meters in the discus to place seventh and 11.27 meters in the shot put to secure eighth place. Madison Farmer offered a strong secondary option in the rings, placing eighth in the discus (36.07m) and recording a 9.97-meter toss in the shot put. In the jumps, Dasia Garland placed 10th in the long jump with a top mark of 5.26 meters.
