GAME ONE: Campbellsville 3, Truett McConnell 2 (8 Innings)
The Lady Tiger defense established the tempo immediately, behind starting pitcher Leah Holland, who retired the Bears in a quick 1-2-3 fashion in the top of the first inning. Campbellsville wasted no time jumping on the board in the bottom half of the frame. Korey Harris was hit by a pitch, promptly stole second base, and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Moments later, Lydia Jones laced an RBI single to right field, bringing Harris across the plate to give the Lady Tigers an early 1-0 lead.
The contest evolved into a tight defensive battle through the second and third innings. While Truett McConnell struggled to generate offense against Holland, Campbellsville manufactured baserunners behind base hits from
Jillian Jeffries,
Hannah Hackworth, and
Jessie Daniels, though they were unable to extend their advantage.
Truett McConnell found its footing in the top of the fourth inning. After Grace Folds hit a one-out double down the left-field line and advanced to third on a lineout, she raced home to score on a wild pitch, locking the game at 1-1.
In the top of the sixth inning, reliever
Ellie Coley entered the circle. The Bears utilized a walk, a sacrifice bunt, and a passed ball to place a runner on third base. Morgan Kacalek executed an RBI groundout to shortstop, allowing Truett McConnell to steal a narrow 2-1 lead.
Refusing to back down, Campbellsville formulated an immediate response in the bottom of the sixth. After Jeffries drew a one-out walk and pinch-runner
Makayla Hogg advanced to third on a double down the left-field line by Hackworth, Harris laid down a perfectly placed RBI bunt single to bring Hogg home, evening the score at 2-2.
Senior
Emma Markham took over pitching duties in the top of the seventh inning, escaping a jam with the help of a brilliant defensive sequence that included picking off a Truett McConnell baserunner to end the frame.
With the game pushed into extra innings, Markham delivered a seamless 1-2-3 top of the eighth. In the bottom half of the frame,
Rylee Warner reached base on a throwing error by the shortstop and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by pinch-hitter
Karleigh Walker. With two outs and the season hanging in the balance, Harris solidified her status as the offensive hero of the game, ripping a walk-off RBI single to center field to score Warner and seal the thrilling 3-2 triumph. Holland pitched 5.0 stellar innings, allowing one earned run, while Markham earned the win in relief.
GAME TWO: Indiana Tech 3, Campbellsville 1
With a quick turnaround, both squads entered the evening elimination game eager to extend their national tournament run. Each team scattered a pair of base hits across the first two innings, but tightly contested pitching and stout defensive execution kept the game scoreless early on.
Indiana Tech engineered the defining surge of the contest in the top of the third inning against Markham. Following a single and a fielder's choice that left runners on the corners, Kaelie Kugler lined an RBI single up the middle to break the tie. Alyssa Harvey immediately followed with an RBI sacrifice bunt, and Alyssa Fox capped the frame with an RBI double to left-center, building a 3-0 lead for the Warriors.
Campbellsville retaliated in the bottom of the third. Harris singled to third base and advanced to second on a groundout.
Ashlan Estep stepped up and delivered a clutch RBI single to left-center, driving Harris home to put the Lady Tigers on the board, trailing 3-1.
The bullpens took complete control over the remainder of the evening. Campbellsville relievers
Heidi Tipton and Coley combined for 4.2 innings of flawless, scoreless relief to keep the Warriors within striking distance. The Lady Tiger defense played exceptionally behind them to prevent Indiana Tech from extending its lead, but Indiana Tech's complete-game pitcher, Savannah Bravo, held firm, limiting Campbellsville's late-inning opportunities to secure the 3-1 decision.
