On June 14, 2018 Campbellsville University announced Pete Hedgepath as the first full-time bass fishing head coach in program history. Hedgepath took over for the program's first head coach, Tommy Hall.

Even though he has only three years of coaching at the collegiate level, Hedgepath has more than 25 years in the fishing industry, both competitively and recreational.

Along with Coach Hall, Hedgepath has been instrumental in getting the bass fishing program as one of the best college teams in the country. He was one of many key factors to help get the 2016 BASS National Championship on local Green River Lake State Park and the bass fishing team has six anglers set to compete in their first national championship in a few weeks.

In the summer of 2018, Campbellsville University had its first team finish in the Top 4 of the BASS National Championship (Nick Ratliff and Bradley Dunangan). The duo split up to compete in the BASS College Series Bracket Challenge with Ratliff coming out of top and punching his ticket to the 2018 Bassmaster Classic on the Tennessee River. Overall under Hedgepath's leadership, the team has won the Battle of the Bluegrass in consecutive years (2017 and 2018), the University of Louisville Bass Open on Nolan Lake, and Dunagan and Ratliff earned top honors at the Bassmaster College Series Regional on Barkley Lake.

In addition, eight total boats have qualified for the BASS College Series Natinonal Championship under Hedgepath's leadership. on the FLW YETI Fishing College Tour, the Tigers have had six boats qualify for the national championship under Hegepath's leadership.

He has been an integral part in almost quadrupling the CU bass fishing team's sponsorship base and the team now has four new trucks with four team boats - three of which were brought in under Hegdepath's leadership and sponsorship work.

Before getting into coaching, Hedgepath worked as a mine technician for Elk Creek Mine (Alliance Coal) in Madisonville, Ky. He also spent time with Freedom Mine as a unit mechanic and electronic technician with Carroll Engineering from 1995-2000.

Hedgepath earned an Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from ITT Technical Institute from 1982-1984 in Evansville, Ind.

He is married to Donna Hedgepath, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at CU.
