David Montoya was hired in the summer of 2020 to take over as the full-time assistant coach for Lady Tiger softball.
The main responsibilities for the softball assistant coach include coaching first base during games, instruction of the defense and hitting as well as recruiting and field maintenance responsibilities away from competition and practice.
As a player on the CU baseball team, Montoya was a two-time All Mid-South Conference performer at second base as he started in 120 of his 121 games played over two seasons in 2017 and 2018. Working as the starting second baseman for the Tigers, Montoya finished his career with a slash line (AVG/OBP/SLG) of .307/.391/.473 with 130 hits, 30 doubles, 12 home runs, and 81 RBIs.
Montoya has been working in the CU enrollment office for the previous two school years as an enrollment counselor to help students and student-athletes make their way to Campbellsville University.
