Kaitlyn joined the Campbellsville University athletic training staff in August of 2014 and was named the Head Athletic Training in the summer of 2020. She received her bachelor of science in athletic training from Erskine College (S.C.) in May 2012, and then completed her master's of arts in psychology from LeTourneau University (Texas) in May 2014.

While at Erskine, Sanfilippo served as a goalkeeper for four seasons of the inaugural women's lacrosse program and was named all-conference as a senior.

She attended New Spring Church and also sang in Erskin's gospel choir. During college, she worked three years as a student assistant in the Erskine athletic training room and worked in Anderson, S.C. with Blue Ridge Orthopedics and T.L. Hanna High School (home of Radio). She served as a graduate assistant at LeTourneau in the fall of 2012 before entering a year at Newberry College (S.C.) in 2013-14.
