Alex Higdon, just like Alex Adams, made the switch over the Women's side in 2019. He helped coach the Tigers to a 13-6-2 overall record and a 5-3 record inside the Mid-South Conference. Coach Higdon played a part in leading the Lady Tigers to their first NAIA Championship appearance since 2015. He helped coach Naia Landaluce, the first Freshman NAIA All-American in program history and four NCCAA All Americans in Naia Landaluce (First Team), Jordan Stallings (Second Team), Sangmin Cha (Second Team), and Molly Hall (Second Team).
Higdon worked with the CU goalkeepers in the 2018 season as the combination of Owen Stott and Luis Ramirez combined to go 11-7 with 64 saves, seven shutouts, 1.47 goals allowed per game, and a .681 save percentage. Stott was the primary starter for most of the season with 18 games played and 15 starts to play in all seven of the shutouts recorded by the Tigers in the 2018 season.
As a player, Higdon was a midfielder where is played in 75 games with 48 starts with his career-high in starts coming in his senior season of 2016 when he started in all 19 contests he appeared in. He finished his playing career with 14 points scored, three goals and eight assists, with his career high coming in 2014 where he scored two goals and tallied four assists.
In the 2016 season, with Higdon being one of the team captains, the Tigers ranked as high as No. 6 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll. CU also won the 2015 and 2016 Mid-South Conference regular season title and the 2016 MSC Tournament Championship – which was the first in school history.
From the 2015 to 2016 season, Higdon helped lead CU to a 36-match unbeaten streak and in 2015 the Tigers advanced to the NAIA Tournament for the first time in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Individually, Higdon was a 2016 NSCAA All-American and earned All-Conference honors in 2015 and 2016.
