A former NAIA All-American and National Champion, Cody Linton will elevate from graduate assistant to full-time assistant coach for the Campbellsville University men’s wrestling team starting in the 2020-21 season.

Linton will continue working with the Tiger wrestlers assisting head coach Franky James and lead assistant Jacob Murton in all aspects of the CU wrestling program. Along with instructing the wrestlers on and off the mat, Linton also assists Murton, who is also the recruiting coordinator, in the team’s recruiting efforts.
 
This will be Linton’s fifth season as a wrestling coach after working at Doane as an assistant from 2016-2019 before joining the CU staff as a graduate assistant for last season.
 
Boasting a storied wrestling career, Linton won the national championship at 197 lbs. in 2015-16 while at Doane University in his senior season. Prior to his year at Doane, Linton also wrestled at Cumberland University in the Mid-South Conference from 2011-2015.
 
During his time as a Phoenix, Linton was a two-time All-American when he placed fourth in 2013 and runner-up in 2014 at 184 lbs. at the NAIA Championships. Both of those seasons, he was named team MVP by his teammates and coaches as the Phoenix placed sixth at the 2014 NAIA Championships and third at the NWCA National Duals.
 
Being involved with the sport of wrestling since the age of eight years old, Linton was a two-time state qualifier and Northern Section Champion in California, while growing up in Winters, Calif.
 
Prior to his high school career, he was a multiple time California state youth champion in Freestyle, Greco-Roman, and Folkstyle wrestling. He even won the youth triple crown as the state champion in all three styles in the same year.
