Annija Abolina named NAIA All-America Honorable Mention

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Tachikara-National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2016 All-America teams on Tuesday.
 
Campbellsville University's Annija Abolina earned Honorable Mention for women's volleyball.

Abolina, a junior from Riga, Latvia, sported an astounding 581 kills and a 0.294 hitting percentage in 167 sets this season. She currently ranks No. 7 in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in total kills and No. 47 in service aces with 49.

She paved the way for the Lady Tigers who earned a season record of 31-13 and a Mid-South Conference record of 10-4. She was also named All-MSC First Team and Academic MSC honors.

Last week Abolina led her team offensively to runner-up in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Championship in Kissimmee, Fla. with 58 kills. While there, she was named to the NCCAA All-Tournament Team as well as one of two Lady Tigers named NCCAA All-American.
 
Athletes for the All-America teams are nominated by their coaches and voted on by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee.
