Chelsea Craig, Lindsey Burd named NAIA All-Americans

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chelsea Craig and Lindsey Burd were honored by NAIA Division I Women's Basketball on Wednesday after helping lead the Lady Tigers to a 33-4 record and berth in the national championship game this past Tuesday night.

The pair were named to the Third and Honorable Mention All-America teams, respectively. NAIA RELEASE

Craig, a senior from Frankfort, Ky., averaged 8.6 points and 5.4 rebounds a game during the season and carried CU late in a Mid-South Conference regular season run. She scored in double figures 17 times and hit 45 percent of her field goal attempts and 75 percent of his free throws. She won the Hustle Award at the national tournament.

Burd, a junior from Hardyville, Ky., averaged 9.8 points and a team-leading 6.6 rebounds during the season. She also made the All-Tournament Team in Missouri. She scored in double figures 15 times and had double figure rebounds seven times in leading the team with 236.   

"It's fitting because they were the two catalysts for our team throughout the season," said coach Ginger Colvin. "They both gave us a defensive and offensive presence."

Players were selected by the NAIA-Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-America Committee. Each team – first, second and third – consists of 10 members.

Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) senior forward Hayley Newby was selected as the 2015 NAIA National Player of the Year.
