Cahill named as NAIA Honorable Mention All-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Shannon Cahill, a senior outside hitter for Campbellsville University, has been named to the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Honorable Mention All-American team.

"Shannon deserves recognition such as this," said her coach, Amy Eckenfels. "We are so proud of her accomplishments throughout her career at Campbellsville and being named NAIA Honorable Mention All-American is truly special."

Cahill, from Louisville, Ky., is the only honoree named to either of the first three teams or honorable mention from the Mid-South Conference.

She broke the career kill record for a Lady Tiger in early October against Olivet Nazarene in the Indiana Tech Tournament. That's when she surpassed the 1,540 kills accumulated by Molly Hall in 2005.

Cahill has been a stabilizing force in CU's attack for the past four years. She has 1,740 career kills,  1,819 career digs (fourth all-time), and a .220 hitting percentage in 612 career games.

Earlier this season, Cahill was named the MSC Player of the Year and was selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Southeast Region Team.
