KANSAS CITY, Mo. – David Montoya,
Nick Johnston and
Jordan Reed represented the Campbellsville baseball team on the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete list, the national office announced on Thursday morning.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have attended the institution for two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer.
Montoya and Reed earn the national award for the first time in their careers, while Johnston earns the award for the second-straight season. This also marks the second-straight year the Tigers have had three student-athletes earn the academic accolade.
A total of 411 baseball student-athletes across the NAIA earned the award with Taylor University and William Woods University leading the nation with 10 award winners each.
Campbellsville concluded its season with a record of 44-19 overall and won the NCCAA National Championship, along with the Mid-South Conference Tournament title.
