Box Score For the second straight week the Campbellsville University Tiger Football team took a rival opponent down to the wire before losing 34-27 to the University of the Cumberlands.

Cumberlands took a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter before Campbellsville could get on the board with a 25-yard
Greg Fountain touchdown run with 10:32 to play in the half.Â
David Hon's PAT kick made it 14-7. Â

Cumberlands added another score late in the first half with :24 remaining to take a 21-7 lead into the locker room at halftime.

But as has become a signature mark of the Tiger team, they came out strong in the second half and held Cumberlands on their first possession. Campbellsville got the ball and Fountain rumbled 19-yards to cap a 5 play, 45 yard drive and Hon's kick made it 21-14 in favor of the visitors.

Cumberlands would score back to back and take a 38-14 lead before for the second straight week Campbbellsville would battle back late.

Sean Thompson hauled in a 40 yard pass from
Ross Deaton and then with 3:14 to go
Calvin Mann caught an 18-yard pass to make it 34-27.  Campbellsville's
Dwight Houston recovered a fumble late in the fourth period to give the Tigers one last chance.

Campbellsville almost scored on a trick play when Fountain connected with
Sean Thompson in the end zone on a 19 yard pass but Thompson was out of bounds.  The Patriots defense then held the Tigers and preserved the win.

Fountain had 27 carries for 148 yards and two touchdowns as he broke the 4,000 yard career rushing mark and now has 4,097 yards in his career at CU alon with 44 touchdowns.

Deaton has now passed for 2005 yards passing on the season with 17 touchdowns after going going 14 of 27 with 233 yards.

T.K. Guess had 18 tackles which ties him for third in a game in CU history on the defensive front.

Campbellsville is now 2-7 and travels to Union on Saturday, November 8th. Cumberlands is 8-1 and undefeated in MSC East play and can win the conference title outright with a win on Saturday by hosting UVA-Wise.
