Campbellsville, Kentucky - Five Campbellsville University Lady Tigers, lead by
Courtney Danis' (FR/Mt. Sterling, KY) 28 points, scored in double digits today against Georgetown College. However, the effort came up just short as Georgetown escaped with a 76-73 overtime win in the Powell Athletic Center.
Campbellsville built a fourteen point lead twice in the second half and lead 44-30 with 14:04 remaining. But Georgetown rallied and cut the lead to 3, 47-44 with 9:46 to go. Campbellsville then spurted back out to a ten point lead at 60-50 with 5:51 remaining before Georgetown went on a 14-4 run to end the half deadlocked at 64 and force overtime.
Georgetown grabbed the early overtime lead but Campbellsville charged back and lead 71-68 with 2:16 left. However the visiting Lady Tigers scored the final five points of overtime and escaped with the three point win and hang on to a share of first place in the Mid-South Conference race with a 5-1 record.
Danis has now scored 476 points in her freshman season and has had three consecutive Saturday's with big games. She scored 38 at Pikeville on February 2nd, 38 against West Virginia Tech on February 9th.
Campbellsville dropped it's fifth overtime game of the season and fell to 15-11 overall and is now 2-4 in MSC play. The Lady Tigers travel to MSC co-leader Lindsey Wilson on Thursday.
