Campbellsville, Kentucky - The Campbellsville University Tigers staged a late rally to make things interesting but could not come all the way back from a 17-point second half deficit and lost to #2 Georgetown 75-63 in the Powell Athletic Center today.
Georgetown had the lead at halftime 38-33 and came out in the second half behind a 20-8 run to go up 58-41 with 11:13 to play. Campbellsville began to rally at the 8:12 mark and staged it's own 22 to 11 run to cut the lead down to 69-65 with 2:04 to play but Georgetown hit key free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Campbellsville was led by the 22 point performance of
Bubba Long (SR/Owensboro, KY).
Campbellsville falls to 19-7 and is now 2-4 in Mid-South Conference play. The Tigers are tied with Pikeville at 2-4 for fourth, one game behind Lindsey Wilson at 3-3 and two games back of 2nd place Cumberlands who is 4-2. Georgetown remains perfect so far in MSC play at 6-0.
Campbellsville travels to Lindsey Wilson on Thursday for a rematch of a 60-57 home court loss to the Blue Raiders on January 31st.
